Feature Story

Meet Everett

October is Dwarfism Awareness Month! A special welcome to all of our readers and community members with dwarfism.

There are an estimated 30,000 people with dwarfism in the United States, and over 650,000 around the world.

Over 200 medical conditions can cause dwarfism, but 70% of cases are achondroplasia and 80% of people with achondroplasia are born to average-height parents.

What’s most important is that with proper medical care, people with dwarfism can lead full and successful lives.

Back in October 2025, we featured a story on Everett Stuckey, a local 10-year-old with dwarfism. You can read about Everett’s heroic battles with health complications and triumphs over adversity here.

Where Checkups Turn Into An Adventure

Pediatric Dental Associates & Orthodontics

If your kid dreads the dentist, Pediatric Dental Associates & Orthodontics built their entire office to change that.

Their waiting rooms are designed like a playground, complete with video games and activities, so the checkup that usually gets a groan turns into the part of the day kids look forward to.

With locations in Fayetteville and Bentonville, PDAO handles pediatric dentistry and orthodontics under one roof, so cleanings, X-rays and braces consults don't mean juggling two different offices. Their team has a big heart for scared kids and nervous parents, and it shows in the little things, from a play-based check-in to a prize at checkout. Every kid is welcome, including those with special needs, so no family gets left figuring it out alone.

Next time a cleaning's on the calendar, here's a dentist visit your kids might actually look forward to.
